It depends on the ship.
Most modern, premium vessels in the Century and Victoria fleets, such as the Century Paragon, Glory, or Oasis, and the Victoria Sabrina or Jenna, feature individually adjustable air conditioning controls within each cabin. These systems allow you to set your preferred temperature and often adjust the fan speed for personal comfort. This is the standard expected by international travelers and is a key feature of our 5-star service. The public areas, like the dining rooms, lounges, and atrium, typically have a centrally managed climate control system set to a universally comfortable temperature by our engineering team.
On some older or standard-class ships, the air conditioning may be centrally controlled for entire cabin sections or decks. On these vessels, you cannot adjust the temperature from inside your cabin. However, the system is carefully calibrated to maintain a pleasant environment. Should your cabin feel too warm or too cool, this is not something you must simply endure. Our housekeeping and front desk staff are trained to address this immediately. A crew member can often adjust the vent in your room for better airflow, or an engineer can check and fine-tune the system for your specific cabin.
> Director's Note: On any ship, if you are uncomfortable, please inform the front desk or your cabin attendant at once. Our crew’s primary duty is your comfort and satisfaction. We have protocols to investigate and resolve climate concerns promptly, whether that involves a technical adjustment or, if necessary and available, moving you to a different cabin.
For your peace of mind, I recommend inquiring about cabin-specific climate control when booking, especially if you are very sensitive to temperature. Regardless of the system, the climate on the Yangtze can vary, and the sun exposure on different sides of the ship can affect cabin temperature. A light sweater or layer is always a prudent item to pack for moving between air-conditioned interiors and the potentially warm or breezy outdoor decks.
We look forward to welcoming you aboard!
